| You know, I am really quite
lazy! Mum is saying VERY LAZY. HUH!
I can't believe that Christmas has come and gone...time goes so quickly these days, and just now the days are so short that they go even faster! I hope you all had a nice time and got lots of nice pressies! I think you must have all been very lucky judging by the number of toys that Mum was sending off before....we didn't see much of her for weeks 'cos she was so busy. We had a pretty quiet time here. Mum was sad because a member of the family died just before Christmas, but the house was full on Christmas Day and had been busy over the New Year too. Gosh! I forgot to wish you all a Happy New Year! Here in Scotland we celebrate New Year a lot, but Mum says it is not like it used to be. Everyone used to go round all friends and neighbours first footing them! She says that it means the first foot to pass over the threshold in the New Year....and people are invited in and drink the health of the people with some kind of alcohol (....whatever that is! ) It is usually whisky, she says! We are having lots of very windy days and nights here. I don't like it much as the wind makes a howling noise and it sounds like something that might eat me up. Mum says tha poor birdies outside have to battle against the wind to fly around and look for food. She is good to the birds....she puts lots of food out for the hens and the wild birds eat more than the hens! She also has sunflower hearts for the smaller birds (lucky things!....I love sunflower , but I don't get any! Mum says it makes me too fat, but I am just a chubby bird!) She also has a big piece of suet anf the small birds love that too. I spend a lot of time sitting
on my playpen, you see from there I can see Mum if she is in the next room
and I like to keep my eye on her...sometimes she comes and gives me a tickle
and a kiss and I like that! Captain, as usual is busy with his boxes! He
gets so excited when Mum brings in a new one. He walks around it and susses
it out, then he sets to and gets a hole big enough for him to climb inside!
Once he is inside, he scratches and scrapes on the floor of the box and
bits of chewed cardboard come flying out the end and land on the floor....just
after Mum has swept up the mess from his last box! I am not so keen on
boxes, but occasionally I do have a go at the one that is on top of my
cage.
I'm sorry this is not my usual
bouncy letter, but I am not feeling so bouncy without seeing the sun. We
haven't seen the sun for ages and those dark grey days don't do much for
our spirits, so they? Gosh, the wind is howling again and I hope
Mum will come soon and be beside us....I am not scared when she is here.
